2024 Author Update & tidbits

Hello Readers,

I apologize for my prolonged absence! The year 2024 has unfolded in an odd manner, and it seems that a return to normalcy isn’t on the horizon anytime soon. Perhaps this tumult and disorder is the new status quo? Since parting ways with my publisher—a mutual decision—I’ve found myself missing my editor dearly. It’s rare to find someone who truly understands your vision, and she was quite adept at it. This new phase has prompted me to consider both traditional and novel ways to connect with my readers, which I find thrilling. I’ve opted for quality and an indefinite timeline for the release of my next book, prioritizing lasting impact over a rapid but ephemeral presence in my readers’ memories.

Chaos Gems: Past, Present and Context

The importance of world-building and ensuring consistency across each installment in a series has always been paramount for me. This series is no different. It will incorporate numerous chaos gems from my earlier works. Jake will be grappling not only with finding love with Gabby but also with stepping into his role as the leader of the new generation of siblings and cousins. Being a Blake, there’s no question that he’ll navigate his path successfully, yet I mustn’t make it overly simple for Seth Blake Jr. He will also face various challenging themes from the Blake family’s history that persistently linger. Here are some chaos gems to anticipate:

The Winterbournes

Seth Sr.’s association with Penny Winterbourne was merely a fragment of the longstanding animosity between two influential families, a feud that dates back to Grandpa John Jacob’s early days. The origins of this discord are detailed in Colton’s book, ‘Homecoming,’ which is the twentieth and final installment of The Blake Boys Series. Therefore, it’s unsurprising that the current generation of Blake children faces their own set of challenges with the Winterbournes. Will the ongoing battle between these dynasties persist, or will there emerge a bond that unites them?

Fathers & Sons

Lamont Brayer Jr., known to both friends and foes as LBJ, is a true reflection of his father’s football legacy. His father was a dynamic figure who played a crucial role in shaping the characters of not only his teammate Seth but also Charisma. Therefore, it is quite fitting that Lamont’s son has followed in his footsteps, playing professional football and inheriting some of his father’s more questionable traits. For those familiar with my books, you’re aware that I embrace the challenge of portraying complex individuals. Charisma was the first character who motivated me to delve into such intricate personalities. Another was Tate’s biological father, Joe.

I am hopeful for a book release in 2024. Jake and Gabby inspire me daily, thanks to an earworm that has finally opened my eyes to their full potential. For those who know me, an earworm song triggers something in my brain that aids my writing. However, you may have to endure listening to a song on repeat about five hundred to a thousand times if you’re riding in my car. LOL. I will keep you updated, and as I work on the book, I will begin creating character profiles like in the old days. I plan to make improvements to this site and utilize my YouTube channel more extensively as well. There’s lots of exciting content to come as we fall in love with the Blakes all over again.

Happy Reading,
